If you’re ready to fast-track the success of your word study and spelling block, you’ve come to the right place!

Not only have I written a word study implementation guide to help you model each step of your word study routine, I’ve put together all of the resources you'll need to implement your model word list and activities to launch your program. 💃

Be sure to drop your email below so that I can send you the Launch Guide and Model Activities!

I’ll share routines, procedures, and helpful tips to help you train your students and model a variety of word study and spelling activities. You’ll receive:

👉 a list of suggested activities and sample schedule

👉 a list of procedures for implementing word searches, word study notebooks, word sorting, and other activities

👉 ideas for your small group, meet with the teacher time

👉 procedures for teaching students to self-quiz

Things to consider as you launch your students to independence…and more!

MODEL, MODEL, MODEL...TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!

Whether you plan to implement word study as a differentiated subject area or use the same word lists and materials with your whole group, I recommend choosing ONE word list for modeling your word study routines and procedures. Training all students with the same word list for your first word study cycle makes it easier to teach students your expectations for each activity.

I've put together all of the Words Their Way aligned word study resources I use to help you model the activities you might choose to include in your schedule.

You’ll grab all of these freebies for your model unit:

⭐ Discovery Word Searches

⭐ Unlock the List

⭐ Meet with the Teacher

⭐  Word Sorting/Different Sorts Choice Board

⭐ Word Study Notebooks

⭐ Partner Game

⭐ Independent Activity

Later, when you move to a differentiated word study routine or want students to complete activities with independence while you work with small groups, you will have already taught students how to do the activities and how to handle the questions they may have without interrupting your small group lessons. 👏

👉 We can predict that without modeling the expectations of each of our activities up front, students will not meet our expectations and we’ll be repeating ourselves over and over as we try to fully implement word study 🤪. So, use these resources to train your students and model, model, model until they’ve got your expectations down-pat!
